My Bryce

I can't believe it's been three years!!

It was three years ago that my little, helthy boy was huge and very sick. It's amazing how through God's grace that most of that time in my life is a blur now. I truely have no idea how a managed the two weeks Bart was gone and Bryce was still in the hospital. I love that I have so many pictures of him through all his defferent stages in the hospital; from fluffy "shar pei-ish" new born to a chubby healthy baby. Plus no one beleives me when I tell them that he was 11 lbs. when he was born without the pics to back me up!

Pool, Parties and Popcicles

That is basically all we've been up to. Both the boys have really made strides with their swimming. Lunden especially, he has even tried to sneak over to the deep end a couple of times. Thankfully he still is showing no interest in jumping off the diving board.

We have been in party mode for a while now and it's not letting up any time soon. Last weekend was Anna's lingerie shower and then the next day was a big family party at a family friends home. With the Meltons and the Huntingtons in town almost every night was a gathering of some sort. It was a lot of fun but I have been trying to get my house and affairs back in order.

We are now trying to figure out school for Lunden. He has been lapping up all the workbooks I've bought him and is really showing a desire to learn. We're just trying to figure out what our course of action will be.

Well that is a very brief overview of what we've been up to. I hope everyone is having a great summer. I'll finish with some picture I took of the boys this afternoon.

So this past weekend was crazy! We had swimming at the MAC, dinner and a movie, a wedding (where I took some of the pictures), and a afternoon/evening on Clear Lake! Yeah, it make me exausted to typing it and the thing is we have another full weekend a head of us with a wedding in Mississippi and church party on Sunday! We love it though... nothing like summer time.

So things have been a little busy but I have managed to grab a frew pictures of the boys here and there. I have way too much to do today so I'm going to let the pictures do the talking.

Lunden is constantly asking for a dog. He is even very specific when he ask, saying that it should be white with brown spots. One afternoon when he should have been napping I caught him looking out the window and singing some made-up song about how he wanted a doggy. When I asked what he was doing he got all weepy and looked at me with these sad puppy dog eyes and told me he just HAD to have a puppy.

So Tuesday Stephen comes over with his birthday present from Jessica. The cutest little (OK, not that little) Weimaraner puppy ever! What does Lunden do? He gingerly pats her on the head then goes on playing ball with Chris!! Now Bryce on the other hand would not leave poor little Nina alone. He tried to wrestle her to the ground, ride her and then hold her. But she warmed up to him quickly. I really wish we could get BRYCE a puppy but things are on hold 'till we know something about Birmingham.

By the way, Bart applied for a manager position in B'ham along with TEN other people. So chances are very slim but I still would appreciate your prayers. Birmingham is the best thing we've seen since we started looking in January.

Oh my goodness it’s a beautiful day here! Today is the first day of Spring and boy oh boy is it a great way to start. The boys have been playing outside a lot over the past two weeks and I have really enjoyed the fact that they are old enough now that I don’t have to be out there the whole time. I still keep close watch but I can still do things inside. I got a great article (this is not the same article but is related to it) through Lacey in a roundabout way that talks about the importance to let you children just play. To let them get bored and then have to use their imaginations to entertain themselves. It was so good that I immediately turned off the TV and told the boys to go play. Is it just me or is the programming on Noggin/Nick jr. and so on like a doubled edge sword? I mean, I’m going to be truthful here, there is no way Lunden would have learned a lick of Spanish from me. Yet he counts to ten and recites the primary colors in Spanish thanks to Dora and Diego. Lunden even identified a baby marmoset (a what?!) on an animal show the other day.

All this is to say that I have found myself justifying Dora and Diego, Little Einsteins and the Backyardagins just because he has learned a few things that I didn’t even know. Their marketing placates my conflicted conscience with “educational content”. Now I have used LeapFrog and totally endorse it but that’s DVD and not a whole channel of pre-school shows. I have just got to start using moderation. Well that was way down the bunny trail…

Anyway I am totally in love (not really) with our new pediatrician. Not only does he have a great memory (he remembered that Lunden had an unusual name from when he did his circumcision (our other Dr. wouldn’t do it)) but he has made a personal call to check up on Bryce and then sent a thank you note for our business and a referral. How refreshing it is to have a Dr. who actually cares and listens!! Also when I told him that we were behind when he asked about Bryce’s immunization shots he didn’t scold or pressure me… at all. If anyone local is interested it’s Dr. Khanfar.

The other morning Lunden woke up a little early and Bart was still home and while getting ready for work Lunden walked in (smelling of citrus) and told Bart that someone had been in the clementines and his name was B-R-Y-C-E. Where do kids come up with crazy lies? Although Bart and I had a good chuckle over it Lunden has started lying and usually it’s these bold face lies that make have to stop and make sure that I heard him right. I was hoping that this wouldn’t start until has was at least five. ;)

Is anyone else keeping up with American Idol this year? I think the talent is top notch this year. I’m really liking Jason Castro but I also like Michael Johns and Brooke White.

Well it’s getting close to Kindermusic time so gotta scoot.

I have such an overwhelming since of nostalgia washing over me right now that I might be tempted to purchase some tickets to one of their shows.
